Aditya Dhar Called Him the Soul of Dhurandhar 2 — And He Was Right

There are directors. There are actors. There are writers.

And then there are those people who work behind the camera — quietly — making everything look extraordinary while nobody really knows their name.

Vikash Nowlakha is one of those people.

And Aditya Dhar just made sure the world finally knows it.

What Aditya Dhar Said

Dhar recently posted behind-the-scenes photos of Vikash on Instagram with a tribute that honestly reads more like a love letter than a caption.

He called Vikash “the eye, the instinct, and the soul behind Dhurandhar.”

But here is the detail that makes the whole thing even more interesting — Vikash was the last Head of Department to come on board. He joined just a few days before shooting began.

For most people that would be a red flag. Not for Aditya Dhar.

He wrote that it felt “less like onboarding a cinematographer and more like destiny quietly stepping in at the right moment.”

And then came the line that Vikash said after reading the script.

“I’ve waited 30 years to do a film like this. I’ll give my life to it.”

He meant it.

What Vikash Actually Did On Set

Dhurandhar 2 was not a comfortable shoot by any measure.

The team was essentially shooting two films within the time and budget of one. The schedule was brutal. The conditions were harsh — extreme heat in Amritsar and bitter cold in Leh.

Through all of it — Vikash stayed steady.

Dhar described him as “relentless at the centre of it all” — never letting the vision slip, never cutting corners, never allowing the pressure to show in the frames.

That kind of consistency under that kind of pressure is rare. Actually rare — not the word people use casually.

What Makes His Work Different

Aditya Dhar put it simply and perfectly.

“He didn’t just capture moments. He gave them life.”

Every input Vikash gave on set was never loud. But always precise. Always truthful. Always making the film better.

There is a specific type of collaborator who elevates everything around them without demanding attention for doing it. Vikash is clearly that person.

Dhar ended his tribute with a line that says everything —

“There are many who shoot films. Vikash lived this one.”

Who Is Vikash Nowlakha

If the name is new to you — it should not be after this.

Vikash Nowlakha is the director of photography behind some genuinely excellent films.

That is a range of films that covers intimate human stories and massive visual spectacles. The ability to handle both ends of that spectrum tells you exactly what kind of craftsman he is.

About Dhurandhar 2

Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge directed by Aditya Dhar is currently running strong at the box office.

Ranveer Singh plays Indian spy Jaskirat Singh Rangi — who goes undercover in Karachi’s Lyari neighbourhood under the alias Hamza — working to dismantle an underworld and terror network threatening India.

The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera and Sara Arjun.

It released on March 19 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam — backed by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar.

Final Thought

Films are always sold on their directors and actors. Rightfully so.

But every great film has people like Vikash Nowlakha behind it — people who wake up early, stay late, work through impossible conditions and pour everything they have into every single frame.

Aditya Dhar did something genuinely good by putting this man in the spotlight.

Because the soul of a film does not always stand in front of the camera.

Sometimes it stands quietly behind it — and makes sure every frame breathes.
