Frequently Asked Questions

Who can file a complaint with CTAWA?

Any CTAWA member who’s dealt with fraud on a project, or hasn’t been paid what was promised, can bring it to us through this form. Not a member yet? You can apply for your Artist Card here first.

What kind of issues does this cover?

Mainly two things — fraud within the film industry, and unpaid remuneration owed by a producer, director, casting director, agent, or anyone else connected with the work arrangement. If your situation fits either of these, this is the right place to report it.

I’m not a CTAWA member — can I still file a complaint?

This complaint form is only for registered CTAWA members. If you’re not a member but you’ve come across a scam or fraud in the industry, you can still report it through our Scam Alert page — it helps us warn others before they fall for the same thing.

What details do I need to fill in on the form?

Just the basics — your name, contact number, email, date of birth, gender, membership number, address, and a short brief describing what happened.

Why do you ask for my membership number?

It lets us pull up your membership record quickly, so we can confirm who you are while we look into your complaint.

What should I actually write in the Complaint Brief?

Keep it factual — what happened, roughly when it happened, and who was involved. If it’s about unpaid remuneration, mention the amount too. The clearer you are, the faster we can act on it.

Can I complain about a producer who hasn’t paid me?

Yes, that’s exactly the kind of complaint this form is for. Just mention the producer’s details and the payment that’s pending in your Complaint Brief.

What if a casting director misled me or didn’t pay as agreed?

That falls under this complaint process too. Casting directors are specifically included, so go ahead and share what happened.

My issue isn’t about fraud or payment — can I still complain here?

This particular form is meant for fraud and unpaid remuneration cases specifically. For anything else, reach out to us directly and we’ll point you toward the right process.

Do I need any proof or documents before I file a complaint?

You don’t need to attach anything on this form itself, but it helps to have contracts, messages or payment records on hand in case we need to follow up with you.

Will my complaint be kept confidential?

The details you share are used to look into your specific case. We’d recommend reaching out to us directly if you have concerns about how your information will be handled.

How long does it take for CTAWA to respond?

Response times can vary depending on the complexity of the case. If you haven’t heard back after a reasonable amount of time, feel free to contact us directly to check on the status.

Can I submit more than one complaint if I have multiple issues?

Yes, if you have separate issues, it’s best to submit them individually so each one gets looked at on its own.

What happens after I submit the form?

Once it’s submitted, our team reviews the details you’ve shared and takes it from there based on what your complaint involves.

How do I actually submit my complaint?

Fill in the form above with your details and complaint brief, hit submit, and that’s it — our team takes it from there. If you’d rather explain it directly, you can also message us on WhatsApp and we’ll walk you through it.
